About Us

History

Word of Life is a nondenominational congregation established in 1983 as a small house church. Our purpose was to be a church focusing on being a family of believers gathering around worship and fellowship. Over the years after renting facilities around the county we were led by the Lord to our current location which we were able to purchase. Word of Life operates under an eldership determined to be faithful to the Word of God. We have been in downtown Vancouver since 1997.

Purpose

The purpose of Word of Life is to fulfill the command of Jesus is to make disciples by equipping the members to fulfill the purpose they have in the kingdom of God. We do this through proclamation of the Gospel, teaching, worship, communion, prayer and being witnesses to the love and grace of God. We try to help each person to recognize and use the gifts God has given them.

Services

Worship and preaching the Word of God faithfully are central to our service. Our approach to worship is with a small praise team to lead the congregation as the choir. It is our belief that through praise and worship we are able to draw near to God and bring pleasure to Him.

Preaching is provided by the elders on a rotating basis. Each having different gifts provides teaching and preaching from different perspectives the help hearers to grow deeper in their faith. All sermons are rooted, faithful to, and grounded in the Scriptures.

Bible Study

Bible study is available for women on Monday and Tuesday morning. The men gather around the Word on Tuesday mornings as well. It is our belief that as we grow in the Word we are able to become mature in our walk with the Lord. The Women's Bible Study is on a summer break beginning in June and resumes in September. For more information about women's Bible study contact Jo at 360-921-9735 and for men's Bible study contact Les at 360-772-2297. The Women's Bible Study is currently studying the Sermon on the Mount and the Men's Bible Study is currently studying the Gospel John
