Like spring rain, the aroma rivered over His hair and down His cheek filling the room with a strong burst of amazing fragrance. Indignation by some but to Our Savior a good thing,
He knew that He would give His all to rich and poor alike, He did not make a distinction between the two,
‘Do not criticize her for doing this good thing, she has poured this fragrant oil on My body to prepare for My burial.’ A fragrance that was pleasing to The Lord.
From that very moment until He went to the grave the fragrance of death was with Him
When Judas betrayed Jesus and then sat with Jesus at the last supper the fragrance of death was present. When Jesus washed Judas feet when he kissed His cheek the fragrance of death was there.
When Jesus went to Gethsemane to pray; the ever-present fragrance of death prevailed. As He proclaimed “My soul is crushed with grief to
the point of death…” the very essence of death released from His pores.
When Peter said I will never forsake You. The truth of death was present to mock him.
When He stood before Caiaphas, when bound, He was led to Pilate, when Barrabas was released! As He carried His cross to Calvary, the fragrance of Death was there, the anointing fragrance still pungent proclaiming He was prepared.
When He proclaimed, “IT IS FINISHED” His body was prepared; the fragrance still lingered.
But, on resurrection morning when Mary was there at the tomb, the rock was rolled away and THE “FRAGRANCE” was not there.
The angel said “Do not be afraid for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here; for HE IS RISEN!!
